Apoyo y Vida is a non-profit organisation that was created in 1998 to support young pregnant women without protection.

Apoyo y Vida runs a women’s house in Guadalajara for vulnerable young mothers – the youngest is just 14 years old – who have faced such deep challenges during their young lives. In fact, each single mother has a devastating story to tell. Currently, this program can house up to six mothers and their children, helping pregnant women, single mothers and their babies in critical situations of abandonment. Apoyo y Vida provides housing, education and opportunities to prepare the young mothers psychologically, emotionally and professionally for new beginnings and an independent life. Apoyo y Vida becomes their shelter and home for a certain time, a shared refuge and place of safety that can give them a fresh start.

Apoyo y Vida is now looking for funds to purchase and create a second house for a further group of young mothers and their children in Guadalajara, and to support the running costs for this refuge and nursery for a sustainable period. This support is only the start of a bigger development and will enable the organisation to flourish. The trusted team on the ground will ensure that it is legally secured, so that these women and their children have a chance at a better future.
